Tuesday 9th - bike ***** - Felixstowe to Falkenham Church – Mainly sunny.

With an improvement in weather we got out on our bikes for the second day running:) A lovely sunny, warm start here in Felixstowe so after breakfast I managed to do my exercises in the back garden again before setting off on our bikes around 11.30 with our lunch packed. We dropped our garden chairs off at our friend’s house for a get together this afternoon, then head down to Marsh Lane. Across the farm track past the derelict house with sky larks and reed buntings flitting about and the crops are coming along nicely including a field of sweetcorn. Up onto the bumpy River Deben path at Kings Fleet and it’s lovely to see boats on the river. Again, we spot herons, swans with young, a marsh harrier, oyster catchers and a herring gull munching on a crab but slightly spoilt by a low fly attack helicopter! It was nice and quiet as we cycled to the last footpath exit before Kirton creek turning left towards Falkenhan church past a stunning field of poppies and daisies :) Our seat at the church by ‘Emily’ was free and we enjoyed a chicken sandwich for the fourth day in a row while watching a buzzard upset the local crows! It’s always peaceful here with its fantastic views down to the Deben and refreshed we head back to Felixstowe on mainly bridle ways and farm tracks passing our favourite field of potatoes in full bloom being watered by a huge sprinkler! So, another great bike ride of 2 hours 40 minutes covering over 12 miles and perhaps the shame again tomorrow before hopefully a windsurfing session! We then walked around to our friends for a cuppa and biscuit in her sunny front garden:)
